POPOFF XCLUSIVE: CHASE DEHART (ENGLISH VERSION)

Chase D is a really cool and humble guy. Between his trips for CULT, the change of sponsors drama, and hop whipping for breakfasts in 2011 he still has enough time to answer some questions that I shooted at him. Thanks Chase!

(Check out the Spanish version here)

1. Ok, the usual first. name, age and where you from?
Chase DeHart, forever young, thorofare, New Jersey!

2. You know whats The Situation on the Jersey Shore? lol
haha yea i'm his body double you never seen me on there?

3. Just kidding. Now for real, you think the place you grew up influenced you on your riding?
yea where i grew up has 100% to do with how i ride, i could always watch videos and see what people do and ride, but in the end you only have what you're surrounded by, so i made the best of it and did my own thing and even though i travel i still treat everywhere like home, i just like to cruise around, ride whatever spots, spots no one usually likes haha.

4. Who are your favourite riders? Those who inspired you.
mike aitken, garrett byrnes, edwin de la rosa, bob scerbo, steven hamilton, eli platt, chase hawk, all my friends, randy brown, drew quinlan, i'm inspired by lots of people, but they all inspire me to do me and to appreciate them, for them, if you know what i mean. gotta let the dudes have their thing it's not right to just take it from em.

5. Whats the deal with all that smoothness?
haha i don't know man, i always liked R&B, still do, i like smooth cars, i like walking light,  think i get it from my dad, he's real calm and knows what he's doing, he just always taught me things that way i guess and to have confidence in what i'm doing.

6. Big tricks or style?
personally i like traditional tricks tooken to good set-ups, i like progressive tricks too but lately it's a little too much for me to get into cause it's not stuff you can take just anywhere. i like the simple things anymore, style can mean alot of things, but i don't aim for style, i just do it how it comes out when i do it.

7. You've always been ridin' brakeless?
nah i've had brakes for a good while at a point, well now compared to how long i've had no brakes, it feels like i didn't have brakes on for long at all. i started off brakeless because my bike was my buddies and had a broken mount, then eventually i had brakes for a long time, then took em off and left em off.

8. You do realize that you do barpins with the "wrong" hand right? (Its doesnt really matter, but some people say it does)
yup of course, that's just how it felt comfortable to learn them, sucks cause spins with bars like that feels terrible, so 180 bars and trucks don't feel like they work right, so i kinda just do hop ones for fun when i ride and leave em alone.

9. What other things do you do besides BMX?
nothing really, last year i was riding my dirtbike alot, this year i rode it once or twice, i'm kinda over everything except bike riding, i don't party or go out, i just ride alot it's the only thing that i feel good doing at the moment.

10. I've heard you have some Cult signature parts coming soon? Can you tell us something about it?
yea thanks man, i have a cult signature seat coming out, it's like a slim race style pivital but a little different than what's out now. and then my signature grips just came out, i'm happy with how they turned out.

11. Also, a little bird told me that you might be on our next video "POPTAPE DOS". Is it true? What can we expect from you?
yea man, i'm down to contribute some clips, you can expect me man, just me doing whatever i do when i get on my bike, whatever i was feeling up to that day, i hope you like it when i send it through!

12. And the Cult Crew is working on a new DVD too right? What's up with that?
yup, working hard on it already, 3 lil trips down so far, things are looking pretty amazing, i said this in another interview already but i'm pretty overwhelmed with how things are looking, everyone is on the same page and hustlin hard, it's been real fun.

13. Are you down to come to Chile? Shit gets crazy here, just ask Brad (Simms).
of course, i'm down for anywhere bro.

14. Why nobody (pro BMX riders) ever travels to South America? You think riders are afraid or something?
not sure about them but i aint ever scared! haha, i went to colombia for 2 weeks,  that place was fucking wild! one of the craziest 2 weeks of my life.

15. I just have to ask this. You heard the news about the 33 miners in Chile? What you think about that? lol
nah i haven't heard about it man, sorry! i'll look it up.

16. Ok so I also asked on our Facebook page what would people like to ask you if they have the chance and everything was about hop whips, but our good friend Jorge Rojas made a good point there asking: How can you hop whip with your pants so low?
i'm just used to it, i've always worn my pants low, and usually they start up around my waist but i wear loose pants so they just drop in a few seconds haha, fuck it.

17. Ok now, final question. I just have to take this chance: "Is the camera on?". No really, tell me a little bit about what happened there, please.haha, it was on! nah i just got kinda nervous cause i was asking dak if he was alright cause he fell from a crack on the skateboard, then i took a second and realized the camera was probably still on filming me, so i just said it all awkward haha i don't know man fuck it.

18. Now just add whatever you want bro. Thanks, comments, random shit, real talk? Anything you want.
POP OFF! thanks for the interview and support bro, stay in touch.
